Irish Class Descriptions/Levels

 

*All classes listed on schedule are Irish dancing for boys and girls ages 7 and up, unless otherwise noted.  

 

*For ages 7 and up, age will be determined as of January 1, 2011.

 

Rince na n'Og -  A preschool creative movement class introducing Irish traditional dance through music, dance, & gymnastics. Children will learn Irish dance basics combined with ballet, jazz, and tumbling.


Wee Steps - Irish dancing for ages 5 - 6.


Beginner - All who are new to Irish dancing and those who are working

                        on the beginner reel

 

Grade 1 - All dancers who are currently working on the light jig, single jig, and/or

                        slip jig

 

Grade 2 - All dancers who are currently working on the treble jig and/or

hornpipe

 

Grade 3 - All dancers who are currently working on their first traditional set dance

                        and/or new reel

 

Grade 4 - All dancers who are currently working on the  non-traditional treble jig and/or non-traditional hornpipe

 

Grade 5 - All dancers who are currently working on additional steps

in light jig, and/or slip jig  and/or second traditional set dance

 

Grade 6 - All dancers who are currently working on treble reel, and/or advanced steps in all

dances

 

Championship – All dancers who are qualified to dance at the

                        preliminary or open championship levels


Figures - Ceili dancing for ages 8 - adult, dance grade 2 and above.
